Born in Capljina, Bosnia & Herzegovina. Bato received his
artistic education and the first brush stroke instructions from his late
father, Zijo Bostandzic, a well-known Bosnian artist and art professor. The
artist inherited the gift, and streamed it in his own direction-using fearless
bright colors, opposite to the demand upon him to continue in the same old
direction of realistic painting. He had the courage of Kafka’s “hungry artist”,
who confronts the rest of the world.

Bato Bostandzic launched his freelance artist career in
his hometown, Capljina, and in Bosnian capital, Sarajevo, where he entered the
art scene and participated in the group exhibitions. He had solo art shows and
his artwork has been exhibited in the local galleries.

The artist was unable to fight against the war. Life and
art seemed to have lost its power faced with death and human destructive
nature. In 1993 the artist was forced to leave his country. With some of his
works under his arm he came to Bielefeld, Germany, where he continued
expressing himself through the media of art. His exhibitions in Germany have
encountered a positive reaction and, although new to the German art scene, he
has entered galleries and participated in the group exhibitions. He was an art
instructor and newsletter designer for the Bosnian-German cultural society
“Most”.

Bosnia, as well as in galleries in Europe and the USA.
